In October the Swedish municipalities and county councils organizes a conference in Umeå where I will participate in the debate on issues concerning culture and cultural policy. This year’s conference culture is all about collaboration. The conference involved senior politicians and officials, representatives of culture and practitioners from civil society and who define themselves as belonging to the culture industry.
Culture and cultural policies is seen as an important factor for various types of development. This leads to the desire for collaboration between policy areas, sectors and actors within and outside of culture. The conference will take as its starting point that we are all engaged in promoting healthy communities. Societies characterized by social, economic and environmental sustainability. Communities where people want to live in, work in, visit, nurture and develop.
